Yes. Tayyib is free to download and free to use — no subscription, no ads, and no account required.
Tayyib layers several checks on top of each other. Product data comes from Open Food Facts, the world’s largest open food database. Every ingredient is then analysed by AI grounded in Islamic dietary guidance. On top of that, the community can flag anything that looks wrong, and a human review team verifies products. When the app isn’t sure, it says so honestly instead of guessing.
Some ingredients — certain emulsifiers, enzymes, or flavourings — can come from either permissible or impermissible sources, and the label alone doesn’t say which. Rather than pretending certainty, Tayyib marks these as Doubtful and tells you exactly why, so you can decide for yourself. This follows the Prophetic guidance to leave what makes you doubt for what does not.
Tayyib does not issue fatwas and does not follow a single madhhab. Verdicts are grounded in broadly accepted Islamic dietary principles from the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and published scholarly guidance. Where scholars genuinely differ — on certain gelatins or alcohol-derived flavourings, for example — Tayyib marks the ingredient Doubtful and explains the disagreement rather than ruling on it.
